Blog Post: Taking Full Advantage of Renesas Synergy Support Options

If you’ve been reading my previous missives and gotten this far, I will assume you are now up-and-running with a development project on Synergy. Congratulations! This is the really fun part. Creating something new and useful! But, like any development project, there’s bound to be a few hiccups along the way. That’s when I need to lean on tried-and-true expertise beyond my own. Fortunately, Renesas has gone the extra mile to provide a plethora of support options, both self-service and assisted. Before I walk you through these options, let me remind you about Synergy Xplorer. If you didn’t read my previous post on this helpful orientation tool, go back and do so here .  This is the very best place to start to get the lay of the Synergy land and explore your design options. Done it already. Two thumbs up. Time for that walkthrough. Accessing Support   You can access support via the Synergy Gallery or renesas.com. From Renesas.com, just select the Support/Design menu from the top-level navigation. Here’s what my screen looks like when I access the site from Santa Clara:   Note, I’ve selected Renesas Synergy on the left and the Support tab in the center. Now that you’re a Synergy vet, I suggest you bypass the Renesas.com Support section and get your support via the Synergy Gallery . This way you’ll be able to quickly download any new Synergy software while you’re at it. Here’s what the Support page looks like via the Gallery:   Regional Support Here is where you can access the Synergy Support Center, which comprises a dedicated team of Synergy experts. Just select your region from the pull-down menu and you’ll see the following screen where you can submit a request and check your existing requests:   Knowledge Base The Synergy Knowledge Base is intended to be the hub for all documented insights on the platform and its components. I’ve seen the Knowledge Base evolve from an idea to a useful tool that is increasing in value every week. You can find answers to your questions by browsing the index  (Renesas Synergy Knowledge Base), a specific category (MCUs, Kits and Tools, Gallery, Software, Solutions) or via Search.  Both technical and logistical topics are included in the Knowledge Base. Want to learn how to create a custom Board Support Package? Create a new Synergy Project? Check the Knowledge Base. Chat     Hit a speed bump in your Synergy development process? Just want an answer to a quick question? Synergy specialists are standing by. During my time at Renesas, I’ve had a chance to acid test as my development inspiration can span from early mornings to late at night. No matter the time of day Monday through Friday (I refuse to work weekends), I’ve always received a quick and helpful response from Warren, Karol or Suzuki-san. Forum Unless you’ve been kidnapped and placed blindfolded in a foreign land, you already know about Renesas Rulz (you’re smack in the middle of it, pal!). This forum is the place to discuss Synergy with other developers and learn from your peers. Sign up by creating a MyRenesas  account and you’ll be able to ask questions, find useful solutions and projects, get advice from Synergy experts, share your accomplishments, and be part of a growing Synergy community. Documentation Renesas takes Synergy documentation so seriously that it provides it in three different forms to aid development: Documentation Library (pdf), Synergy Wiki (HTML) and Smart Manual (within e 2 studio).
