My parents taught me long ago that understanding the context I am operating in before diving into a new challenge would maximize my productivity (and reduce my stress). I call this context “the big picture.” So call me a stickler, but I like to understand the big picture before I start using a new tool. I guess the IoT BU team must have learned the same lesson. They were already thinking about building context around the Synergy development experience before the first board samples were manufactured. In fact one of my first jobs with the company was to participate in a taskforce to develop this big picture vehicle, which is now known as Renesas Synergy Xplorer. Synergy Xplorer is a powerful and fun-to-use way to get oriented on the features, benefits and platform. It’s a web-based interactive promotion tool with comprehensive Synergy information delivered via a responsive design that is able to adapt dynamically to your laptop, tablet or mobile device. Xplorer helped me better understand the capability of the Synergy Platform in the context of the type of projects I’m interested in. It provides a helpful overview on how Synergy helps to address time to market, total cost of ownership and barriers to entry challenges, and descriptive content on every component of the platform. Each of four Synergy component sections (Software, MCU, Tools & Kits, Solutions) provide an impressive overview video. The Software section describes the SSP package, explains the difference between qualified and verified software add-ons and provides commercial licensing options. The Synergy MCU section provides a detailed overview and specs for the MCU Series portfolio and includes Portfolio Browser, Package Navigator and Series Comparison tools for you to explore your options and determine the best solution for you. The Synergy Tools & Kits section offers an overview of the e 2 studio ISDE, TraceX and GUIX-Studio tools that are packaged with SSP, and each available DK, SK and PKs (Promotion Kits, while the Synergy Solutions section features the currently-available PE-HMI and some upcoming PEs. The fifth Synergy component section features the Synergy Gallery. Bottom-line, Synergy Xplorer is a way cool and very useful way to wrap your mind around Synergy. So, stop reading this already and go have fun playing with Xplorer! Next time, I’ll share my experience getting started with the Synergy Platform. Professor_IoT
